Bucharest Inside The Beltway

ZALmoxis

by Lucian Blaga, translated by Doris Plantus-Runey, April-May 2011.

An all-female interpretation of Lucian Blaga's classic mythic play, 2011 performance at Georgetown University's Devine Studio Theatre produced by CERES in the School of Foreign Service in collaboration with the Davis Performing Arts Center, directed by Ion Ratiu Fellow Cristina A. Bejan, starring Anika Harden as Zalmoxis, including photos from the preview at the Romanian Embassy to the United States. This production took place between the moment of Bucharest Inside the Beltway's conception in 2008 in Bucharest, Romania, and its birth in Washington DC in 2014. ZALMOXIS brought Romanian theatre to DC and ignited the diaspora community. Its success was a prophetic sign of what was to come for BiB. PHOTOCREDIT: Arnab Kar.
